That Price Is Too High

That Price Is Too High

2 minute read

In building this business I’ve heard this sentence a few times now..."That price is too high."  In this world of mass production, people are used to buying poor quality products, cheaply made, from the big box stores.  So when I give someone a price that’s triple what they can buy from Ikea or Walmart, why would you pay triple the price?  If you purchase a piece of furniture from a craftsman it’s not comparable to mass produced goods.  The pieces you buy from the big box stores are made from cheap particle board or beechwood that you have to put together yourself and will fall apart in a few years, if it lasts that long. The saying is true-"you get what you pay for;" but with a craftsman, you get so much more. When you buy from a wood worker you get a custom piece that is handmade from quality wood. You get to be involved in the process of designing it and then seeing it come to life. It is made to be seen and to last. It's personal. It's unique. It's real. It is very satisfying for me to see a customer's face light up when I give them their custom piece of furniture, cutting board or other special creation.  It takes a lot of work, time, passion and energy to build all of these pieces from scratch and some people just don't understand why it costs so much. This pandemic has shown us that when the supply chain breaks just a tiny bit, all of the big box stores struggle to get and sell those mass produced items and keep up with supply and demand.  But your local craftsman, like me, doesn't have that problem because I get the supplies locally. I could source what I needed from other local businesses and not wait on supplies stuck at sea.   I take great pride in building custom, handmade pieces that will be a part of your life for years and years to come. It connects us. So if you're looking for a custom piece, and understand the story of what goes into making it, don't hesitate to reach out so we can work together to make something...priceless.
